NT: Alcan worker falls to death and another is injured=2

Alcan later released a statement, saying the man who died was an employee from a contract
company.

It said the accident occurred at the Alcan Gove fuel storage facility - called Tank
Farm - while work was being performed out of an elevated work platform.

Alcan Gove site manager David Buick moved to assure workers about site safety.

"Alcan takes health and safety extremely seriously but despite our best efforts a tragedy
has occurred," he said.

Mr Buick said the company was seeking to assist those affected by the tragedy.

"Our first thoughts are with the families and all efforts are being made to assist
them at this time," he said in the statement.

"On behalf of Alcan Gove, I extend our deepest sympathy to the family, friends and
workmates of those involved."

In January 2005, maintenance worker Paul Davey, 34, was badly burned when sprayed with
caustic slurry in the refinery's mill slurry heating area.
