QLD: MMM sect land ownership to stay in limbo pending trial

The Supreme Court in Brisbane says the ownership of land at the centre of a dispute between
founders of a controversial religious sect will remain in limbo pending a trial.

Married couple DEBRA and GORDON GEILESKEY, who are now estranged, set up the controversial
Magnificat Meal Movement at Helidon, west of Brisbane, in 1992.

GORDON GEILESKEY wants the court to lift a caveat, which is preventing the sale of the
land, so the sale of the property can be finalised next Thursday.

Mr GEILESKEY bought the land at Helidon for $7,200 in 1998 as a trustee for the Helidon
Real Estate Settlement trust.

But barrister ANTHONY MORRIS, QC, for the Magnificat Meal Movement, said the original
contract was terminated and replaced with a contract in Mr GEILESKEY's name only.

A trial is listed to begin next Thursday.
