VIC: Govt acts to fix prison overcrowding jail manager

A privately-run women's prison administrator in Victoria says union criticism that the
prison's overcrowded is correct, but says the state government's taken action to deal with it.

A Corrections Corporation of Australia spokesman says the Metropolitan Women's Correctional
Centre at Deer Park will receive temporary accommodation to cope with the problem.

Public Service Federation spokesman PETER KEOGH says the jail is overcrowded and that
frustrated prisoners are a danger to officers.
